In Astronomy, a “zenith” is defined as a point directly above an observer, and a “nadir” is the point directly below the observer. Take a moment to transpose this concept of zenith and nadir as a metaphor for self-inquiry. Become aware of the full spectrum of experience your perception allows you to exist in and manifest through.
What’s a classic example of you operating at a high? What’s a common example of you operating at a low? Furthermore, is there an aversion/repulsion to the zenith? How about to the nadir? And is there more of an attraction / taste for the highs or the lows?
Simply observe and be mindful of the tendency of your personal push and pull towards and away from zenith and nadir. Notice the oscillations as well as whether you fight to remain in a particular state of high or low.
Map out the space you tend to exist in and what you tend to manifest through that space. What are some instances where you are inclined to force things? And what are the circumstances you feel wired to run away from? Remember you also are able to land and connect meaningfully.
Opening yourself up to your full world is a process, but it can be learned. It begins with learning to be mindful enough to know your orientation at any particular moment. Are you in zenith or nadir? And once you know where you are, can you finesse your time there? Once you know where you are, can you adapt?
When you need to lay low, can you still find buoyancy? And when you need to be sky high can you still be steady?
Next time you find yourself gazing towards nadir, take a mental note: “nadir” and make the necessary adjustments to adapt as best as you can. Next time you find yourself gazing towards zenith, take a mental note: “zenith” and make the necessary adjustments to adapt as best as you can. Moment to moment choosing what is best. Being at your best. No more, no less. Just your best. And let your concept of best be renewed and adapted to each moment, based on your overarching awareness of the entire space you exist in and manifest through and based on your choice to include and factor in your particular orientation of zenith or nadir. Moment to moment, you are creating a self. Moment to moment, that self is contributing to creating the world. Now is the time to be centred. Now is the time to be mindful. Now is the time to be all in.
